When I login to an FTP server I can't see any files in the remote window?

Try setting FTP into "passive" mode proxy. Your connection may have firewall/proxy issues that this could solve. (Or if it is already in passive mode, try turning this off.) You do this by changing your options: in Options | General Options | Firewall make sure "use passive mode" is selected and "Enable FTP firewall/proxy" is unselected.
